R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril IX

Readers Imbibing Peril IX
(Art by Abigail Larson)
I can't believe that it's already time for my annual RIP read which is hosted by the lovely Carl over at Stainless Steel Droppings.  Not only is it that I don't know where this year has gone but I am slightly shocked this is the ninth year of the event!  I have taken part in this for the last six years and it's become a tradition to seek out, and set aside, material in anticipation.

As ever, this is about reading and watching material from the genres of...
Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy.
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.

Being a wet and a weed, this isn't my normal genre so what I love about this challenge is that it pushes me to read books that I normally wouldn't seek out and I have had some great experiences in previous years.  The lovely thing about this challenge is that Carl has two simple rules:

1. Have fun reading (and watching).
2. Share that fun with others.

I look forward to getting started and seeing what everyone else gets up to over at the R.I.P. IX review site.

Its not really my main genre either, but I am quite fond of it all the same. You've been in for six year, eh? Crazy, isn't it? I used to think "time flies" was just a cute saying. Not anymore. It is reality.

Every year, I get all giddy when Carl posts the big reveal of the artwork and that the "challenge" has started. I have yet to compile my list, but have a deep stack of books ready and waiting!

Because I also participate in Carl's Sci-Fi & Once Upon a Time experiences I find that my annual reading has now entered a seasonal rhythm an I actively now "save books up" for the next experience. Which means I have plenty of choice ready when they start!

There is never enough time to read everything I intend to but have already started to make inroads on my RIP reading pile. Nothing too scary yet though! :)
